Expansion in the scale of cultivation, adaptation to new (cultivation) techniques, and the changing ways in which sales are structured, are telling examples in this regard.
The diversity in the variety of Phalaenopsis is getting larger and larger, on account of upgrading activity. The demand for unequivocal colour descriptions for varieties is steadily growing. New visual-techniques in combination with delivery systems work on the basis of “colour-pixels” in the flower, instead of being based on terms such as ‘colourful”, “multi-coloured” and “varied”.
Within this scope Anthura introduces a new colour-coding for Phalaenopsis varieties. With the help of this colour coding it will be easy to select varieties based on colour. The colour-code consists of five letters. The first three letters indicate the flower’s basic colour, the fourth letter indicates the colour of the lip, and the fifth letter indicates the flowering pattern.
For the introduction of this colour code Anthura developed a special tool, the Phalaenopsis colour-diagram. This diagram is a handy aid in determining the colour of a flower.
