Colour diagram

The Phalaenopsis varieties are supplied in a colour mix. Since Anthura supplies young plant material, it has developed a colour coding which you can use to define /identify the variety.

What is the difference between a spotted Phalaenopsis and speckled one? How does a Phalaenopsis look like with a green lip? What shades are there? These are frequently asked questions and the special Phalaenopsis colour diagram is an easy tool to define a variety. The diagram consists of 3 discs which turn independently. The outer disc shows the full range of base colours of the Phalaenopsis varieties, the middle disc shows the lip colour, and the inner disc, the smallest one is used to define the variety’s pattern.

Every Phalaenopsis therefore has a colour code exciting of five letters. The base colour consists  three letters (e.g. 'WHI' for white), the lip colour is indicated with one letter (e.g. 'R' for red) and the pattern can be identified through the last letter (e.g. 'S' for speckled). The colour code (WHIRS in this example) is printed on every label, so growers can easily identify the colour of the varieties when the young plants are delivered by Anthura.
