05-09-2009 | On Friday September 4 the new greenhouse complex at the Cyclamenweg in Bleiswijk has been opened. More than 1,200 invited guests, among whom persons involved with the building of the greenhouse, clients, representatives and staff members of Anthura, attended the opening ceremony. The ceremony was based on the success factors in the cultivation under glass.
On a big stage special guests put weight on a big balance, under the guidance of hostess Simone van Trier.
After the balance reached its maximal weight singer Alma Nieto climbed to the sky and sang an ode to the new greenhouse.
Next to the festive opening all guests were offered the opportunity to visit the greenhouse. Then the buffets were opened; after the dinner a sparkling party began.
Anthura thanks all persons present for their coming!
Background of the greenhouse construction
Anthura had five different production locations in Bleiswijk. To be able to continue producing permanently and efficiently on the long run one central production location was required.
In 2003 the first building plans were made. The Anthurium plant was considered the central point when the greenhouse was designed.
In the design the characteristics of the plant have been well considered. Starting points were: To use as much as possible the (present) natural sources and circumstances, like light (energy), open air (cooling) and rain (water).
Royal architecture and ultramodern techniques can be seen in the new greenhouse complex. Thanks to the round forms and the soft green colour of the glazing bars the new greenhouse has the appearance of an historic orangerie from the 19th century. The design was inspired by the Royal Botanic Gardens of Kew in London.
The aesthetic dimension is not a purpose on its own. The new greenhouse complex has been equipped with modern techniques like diaphragm screening, counter flow system and greenhouse in a greenhouse technique.
Diaphragm screen
The cultivation of starting material goes hand in hand with big quantities and a short cultivation time. A modest improvement of a growing factor can provide a strong output improvement per m². An important starting point for the cultivation is to make optimal use of the natural light. Therefore the whole greenhouse has been equipped with a diaphragm screen.
Counter flow system
The counter flow system is an advanced system for air currents.
Greenhouse in a greenhouse technique
Starting point for this technique is the limitation of radiation of the sun. 28.000 m² greenhouse has been equipped with the greenhouse in a greenhouse technique.
And more, the greenhouse has been provided with a fully automated logistic system for the cultivation containers (including second cultivation layer above the processing room on the first floor). All plants are automatically transported with the logistic system to every desired location.
