Anthura Breeding is responsible for the examination into and the development of new Anthurium varieties. The pay-off of Anthura ‘Unlimited in varieties’, is the successful result of this department.
Anthura has a huge breeding department where they make cross-fertilizations which possibly can grow out until new varieties. Subsequently the new developed varieties are being extensive tested and tried out before the decision is made if these are really being introduced on the market. The breeding process of Anthura takes about eight years before a new variety can be introduced on the market.
In the show greenhouse at the Anthuriumweg in Bleiswijk Anthura shows its Anthurium and Phalaenopsis assortment for cut flowers as well as pot plants. In the demonstration greenhouse not only existing varieties are shown, but also novelties are being tested here. A visit to this greenhouse, also gives the visitor a look into the future.
Anthura, as breeder, thinks it is also important to contact the next link in the supply chain, the florists.
On Tuesday November 3 last, a delegation of the VBW (Dutch Florist organisation) were taken round the demonstration greenhouse of Anthura. Many Anthurium and Phalaenopsis varieties for the pot plants as well as the cut flowers were shown. The input of the florists was very much appreciated; their knowledge, experience and opinion make the market after all.
At the end all florists received some promotion materials and an Anthurium cut flower of the newest varieties: Sonate Royal®, Peruzzi®, Lumina®, Lucardi® and Meander®. Anthura is very curious about the opinion of the florists about these novelties.
Dutch Creations® is another example of chain integration in which Anthura actively participates. The unique website www.dutch-creations.nl is a source of inspiration for florists but also gives product information which mostly does not reach the florists through the chain.
