Queen Beatrix baptizes cruise ship Eurodam in sea of Anthurium

09-07-2008 | In a sea of White Champion®  pot plants the queen baptized the 14th ship of the Holland America Line.

The ship arrived on Sunday morning and amid great public interest in the home port Rotterdam, it was moored at the cruise terminal. Just before the baptism the employees of the company Gebr. C.P. en C. J. Stolk B.V. were very busy. 

With the company located in Bergschenhoek, more than 1.000 Anthurium pot plants White Champion® were ordered to decorate the stand of this festive baptism. The setting was transformed into a white floral sea. 

The plants were checked for a magnificence presentation of the flowers. Enough plants were on stock and the employees could directly get to work. The queen paid a lot of attention to the beautiful sea of flowers. “This makes us even more proud!” according to Mr. Kees Stolk.

The new Eurodam is the first ship from the Signature–class and the largest cruise ship of the Holland America Line. 

The latest acquisition of the originally Dutch shipping company provides accommodation to 2104 passengers and 929 crewmen. It measures 86.000 ton and has in total 1022 cabins, a lot with a private balcony. The cruise ship measure 285 meters long, 32,2 meters wide. The ship counts as much as 11 passengers decks.
